MOL (Asia) Announces Senior Appointments and Promotions in Asia Liner RHQ and Asia Regions
HONG KONG – MOL (Asia) Ltd. announced today a number of senior appointments and promotions in the Asia Liner Regional Headquarters in Hong Kong and in the Asian countries under its jurisdiction.
MOL Asia’s Chairman and Managing Director Mr. Michael Goh said, "To be a true global player and operator, MOL believes a mix of Japanese and local national work force with international orientation, outlook and background is crucial to maintain and expand our business around the globe. We are happy to see the recent appointments and promotions of a new generation of Japanese and local national staff to key positions in MOL Asia RHQ and in the key Asian regions/countries.
In the Asia RHQ in Hong Kong
Mr. Shinzo Kawamura will succeed Mr. Masaru Morioka as Asia Director of Finance & Administration and also supervise the Asia’s Systems and Business Process teams.
Mr. Louis Tang, currently Director of MOL Asia’s Sales and Customer Service group, is promoted and will succeed Mr. Mitsujiro Akasaka as Senior Vice President of MOL Asia and Oceania Trade Management.
Mr. Frederick Birnbaum is promoted to General Manager and will succeed Mr. Louis Tang as head of the Asia’s Sales and Customer Service teams.
In the North Asia Region, which includes Japan and Korea
Mr. Hajime Miyabe, currently Director at MOL India and also responsible as Japanese Accounts Sales Director for the Indian Sub Continent countries, will succeed Mr. Keitaro Shimamoto as Group Leader of Administration in MOL Japan.
In the Central Region, which includes China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan
Mr. Simon Chow, currently Deputy General Manager of Regional Planning group, is promoted and will succeed Ms. Emi Akaike as General Manager, Administration. He will be the process leader for the Region covering Finance, HR, Administration, Systems and Business Process.
In the ASEAN North Region, which includes Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam
Mr. Mitsujiro Akasaka, currently Senior Vice President of MOL Asia and Oceania Trade Management will succeed Mr. Takao Furukawa as President of MOL Thailand and also assume the position of Regional Director for the Region.
Mr. Waki Ikemoto, formerly Director of MOL Thailand’s Logistics Division, will succeed Mr. Akira Kurita as Country Director of Thailand.
Mr. Masafumi Yamamoto, formerly Deputy General Director of MOL Vietnam, is promoted and will succeed Mr. Katsunori Moriya as General Director and Country Director of Vietnam.
Ms. Hin Theany, currently General Manager of MOL Cambodia, is promoted to Country Director of Cambodia.
In the ASEAN South Region, which includes Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines and Singapore
Mr. Masaru Satose, currently Managing Director of MOL Singapore, will succeed Mr. Yoshiharu Kanamori as Regional Director for the Region.
Mr. Kazuya Gakuto, currently Group Leader of the Liner Procurement Group and member of the Corporate Planning Division Cost Management Unit Group, will succeed Mr. Yoshiharu Kanamori as President Director of MOL Indonesia and will succeed Tatsuya Ueki as the Director of Japanese Accounts Sales for the entire Region.
Mr. Justin Chuo Ngie Kiong, currently General Manager for Sales and Logistics in MOL Malaysia, is promoted and will succeed Mr. Tatsuya Ueki as Country Director for Malaysia.
In the West Asia Region, which includes countries in the Indian Sub-Continent and Indian Oceans, Middle-East and East Africa
Mr. Masateru Kawano, currently Country Director and General Manager of MOL U.A.E., will succeed Mr. Hajime Miyabe as the Director at MOL India and will also be responsible as Japanese Accounts Sales Director for the entire West Asia Region.
Gohsaid, “Every year, we promote certain local nationals and transfer a number of Japanese executives from MOL Tokyo Headquarters Divisions and our other worldwide offices to assume key positions in our Asia Liner RHQ and in Asia regions/countries. These executives bring to us their broad and diverse experience and business knowledge and significantly contribute to our operations and business growth.”
